Chemical Peel

Dermaceutic are a range of medical grade chemical peels and can only be carried out by trained medical and dental professionals. They are not available in the High Street and should not be confused with very mild and gentle peels available from beauty therapists.

The Treatment:
Chemical Peels involve the careful application of a chemical exfoliant to the epidermis of the skin; they are designed to accelerate the removal of old, dead skin cells at the surface of the skin to promote new cell growth.

What do Dermaceutic chemical peels contain?
Depending on the particular Dermaceutic chemical peel product used, it may contain glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid and trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or mandelic acid.

Is this a superficial, medium or deep peel?
Very superficial to medium depth peels.

What problem skins do they treat?
They can treat various skin conditions and disorders. They can help treat shallow acne scarring, uneven skin tone, oily skin, fine lines and wrinkles, photo damage, ageing skin and smokers complexion. Some formulations within the range are suitable for treating stretch marks and melasma. They can be used on the face, the neck, the chest, the body and the hands. Most, but not all, are suitable for all skin types and colours.Cosmo peel should only be used on skin types I-III (fair to medium skin colours).

What is the recovery period?
This is dependent on the depth of peel that you have. With the superficial peels you will have no visible peeling therefore there is no down time. But with the medium depth TCA peels you normally experience peeling similar to that of bad sun burn which can last from 2-4 days. It is unlike the deep peels that are seen on programs such as "ten years younger", so people normally continue their day to day activities and do not feel they need to take time off work etc.

Prior to each treatment a comprehensive skin consultation will be carried out to determine which peel is best suited for your skin type and needs. We will also advise you of a range of cosmeceutical products to use during your course of treatment to enhance the results.
